I remember leaving home at 8a.m. for the festival, only to finally return back at 2p.m. feeling exhausted and very hungry. Even though it's the norm for these kind of occassions to take so long, but still, 2p.m is already quite late considering the time I left in the morning. I shoud have just joined the procession at midnight-lesser devotees compared to the morning "peak hour" if you want to put it that way.
Other than that, the whole thing was quite smooth-sailing from start to finish. Thank goodness for sunny skies, otherwise the rain would have made things worse. The only thing that still irks me is how all of us had to wait for about an hour while being stuck just outside the temple (endpoint) under the hot sun. It was the first time I saw many others who were following the procession to simply just find some place to sit down under whatever little shade they could find. Atleast the supporters were optimistic enough to liven the atmosphere with drum beats and singing until the end to entertain the crowd. That's a definite plus.
